Product Development and Marketing

So, you've invented a robot butterfly with solar wings. What’s next?

Discovery Meeting

During our first meeting, we ask several questions to determine how you arrived at your prototype.

Examples:

  1. Vision: What made you decide to develop this product? What need are you fulfilling?
  2. Process: Did you use a specific product development process (ie. Stage-Gate®)? Who has been involved to-date?
  3. Portfolio: What is the relationship between this product and other products you're innovating? ... between your existing product line and this product?
  4. Consumer Interest: How did you receive feedback regarding product features during development?
  5. Features/Benefits vs. Materials/Production Affecting Pricing: Why did you choose solar power over battery power? Other robot materials?
  6. Supply Chain: What is your plan for distributing the product? What is the capacity of your manufacturer(s) and distributor(s)?
  7. Marketing/ Launch: Do you have a launch plan at this time? Are you launching regionally, nationally or internationally? Do you have a budget for launch?
  8. Finance: Are you looking for funding? If so, do you have a business plan?
Product Marketing Example: Solar Butterfly

Based upon the discovery meeting, we pull together a multi-phase approach to take your product to market. Each scenario is different. If little consumer feedback has been collected, we start with a feasibility study to make sure the product (as-is) is viable. We also confirm the capacity of each vendor involved in the supply chain as it relates to geography and growth. If the product is ready to roll out, we present a launch plan and, based upon your in-house human resources, help you implement the plan.
